Wales Mountain Bike Trails In Snowdonia
With the development of the Trans Wales Cycle Routes, the Snowdonia National Park area has now become an ideal centre for your cycling holiday. Recognised for its mountain bike trails and dramatic cycling landscape, North & Mid Wales will offer to you a vast array of cycling opportunities for all fitness levels.
National Cycle Network
The National Cycle network, Lon Las Cyrmu, offers a 240 mile cycling adventure through Wales, and Snowdonia is ideally situated on Route 8.
The traffic-free trail from Barmouth to Dolgellau along the Mawddach Estuary is one of the most spectacular cycle rides in Wales, with wonderful open views north to wooded hills rising 1000 feet above the water’s edge.
This 10 mile cycle ride starts with a crossing of the splendid wooden Barmouth Viaduct, and follows the old railway track into the heart of Dolgellau. There is an excellent refreshment stop at the George III Hotel at Penmaenpool.
Adventurous Biking Trails from Our Log Cabin In Wales
For the more adventurous, a number of undulating and technically demanding mountain bike routes have been developed in the nearby Coed y Brennin Forest, north of Dolgellau. There is a visitor centre at Maes Gwm selling maps of all the cycling routes in the forest including the famous Red Bull Mountain Bike course.
If you would prefer to avoid the hassle of attaching your mountain bikes to your motor vehicle, or you intend to travel by rail and bus and arrive here by foot, we alternatively offer you the option of hiring well maintained mountain bikes from the local Trawsfynydd Log Cabin Holiday Village site shop.
